Ocala Health System Names Arthur Osberg as Chief Medical Officer

Ocala, FL (July 26, 2010) - Arthur Osberg, MD, joined Ocala Health System as Chief Medical Officer for both Ocala Regional Medical Center and West Marion Community Hospital on July 19th.

“Dr. Osberg brings many years of applied clinical experience and a comprehensive knowledge of our healthcare system,” said H. Rex Etheredge, CEO for Ocala Health System. “We are excited to add this new position with Dr. Osberg leading our medical staff and providing additional strategic leadership throughout our facilities.”

In addition to acting as the administrative liaison to the Medical Staff, Dr. Osberg’s duties include Credentialing and Medical Staff Services, Quality, and Utilization Management, where his extensive experience on various Medical Staff committees at Ocala Health System provides a valuable foundation. Dr. Osberg has extensive experience in Emergency Medicine, actively practicing in the Ocala Health Emergency Departments since 1985. He has been the Ocala Health Emergency Department Medical Director since starting in 1985, most recently with Sheridan Healthcare and prior to that with the NES Healthcare Group. He has held various management positions with NES, including Executive Vice President of the Southeast Region, Southeast Regional Medical Director and National Medical Director for Urgent Care Centers.

Dr. Osberg received his B.A. in Psychology from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC and his Medical Doctorate from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He completed his internship at US Public Health Service Hospital in New Orleans, LA.
